Hi everyone!
Welcome to my blog, Flying on Jess Fuel. If you don’t already know me, my name is Jess, and I love all things food. And I’m not alone. My husband Nick shares my passion for delicious food, good red wines, and cold, frosty homebrews.
Though I hail from New England and Nick is a West coaster, we met in Daytona Beach, Florida while Nick was attending school there and I was… well, escaping the cold and snow of my native land. We met through a friend, at a Mexican restaurant where I impressed Nick with my jalapeno-eating skills. How could he resist?
Since then we’ve been on a crazy, never-ending adventure throughout the country. We moved from Daytona to Pensacola, FL, so Nick could attend flight school for the US Navy. After a few months there, we relocated to Enid, Oklahoma to an Air Force base where Nick continued training. After that, we moved back to the South, to Mississippi. Most recently, in February 2013, we moved across the country to California, where we will hopefully be for a bit longer!
I thought this blog would be a great way to keep in touch with all our family and friends who live all over the country, while sharing all of our mouthwatering recipes with the world. I hope you enjoy it and come back soon!

I like the layout. It is bright, clean and easy to navigate. Very inviting. I also like the stories to go along with the recipes, it personalizes everything and makes it that much more interesting. I look forward to many more postings!

Jess, I’m a friend of Nick’s grandmother and today she gave me your website. I love it!! I’m not a cook (done it too long and now only two of us) so your recipes really intrigued me. They all look great. I’m bookmarking you and will be looking at the yummy food probably daily. I grew up in NW AR, not so far from Enid, so I had to laugh about your not wanting to buy fish there.

Awww, thanks! I’m glad you like it! Nick says the blog is the best thing that’s ever happened to him… he’ll never go hungry!

I made your Taco Salad for my dh last night after he got home from a long hard day of work. He is hard to impress because he is the chef in the family but he LOVED your Taco Salad and so did I!!!
Love your blog, and btw, my husband was stationed in Meridian MS when he was in the Navy, he loved it!! We now live in the mountains of North Georgia!

My sister in law used to be a judge there in Meridian- Judge Sarah Springer. My inlaws lived there as well. N
